From the moment I found out about The Churchill Fellowship last year I had a hundred thoughts go through my head. Where would I go? What should I research? Is this for me? Should I apply?
The chance to go to another country (or several countries) to explore solutions to social issues we face in the UK was something that comes around once, if ever. I felt that I had to give the application a shot.
Taking on the role of a fellow is so far from where I started my journey.
Every email I received from them confirming I had progressed to the next round of the application process was a shock. The biggest shock of all was the email saying my application to be a fellow was successful!

What an incredible adventure. I don’t just mean travelling to the other side of the world and jumping out of planes, but the whole experience from when I first had the idea to apply for a Churchill Fellowship all the way through to writing up the report when I returned.
I took an idea that I have been working on for the last few years in teaching wheelchair skills through my social enterprise and went to the opposite side of the world to connect with people, learning from their ideas and experiences. The people are the core of any good story and I was able to meet with some incredible people.
